Jade Forest Co. Specialty Cistus Leaf, Flower, and Resin Absolute

My handcrafted extraction of our organically grown Cistus ladanifer and Cistus creticus leaves and flowers, co-extracted with hand collected labdanum resin from Cistus ladanifer and Cistus creticus resins, sourced from Portugal and Crete.
 
This absolute is thick and resinous, and very much like Labdanum Absolute, however, it has beautiful floral notes that are not present in the commercial extractions due to the addition of the leaves and flowers. Creating this absolute was not an easy task for me, due to the cold Winters here in New England. The plants were started from seed, and nurtured indoors for two years before planting them outside. The plants grew into shrubs with leathery leaves, and beautiful papery flowers bloomed. Over the Winter the shrubs were covered with a greenhouse we created from our homes old windows. They sustained over 3 Winters, and in the Summer of their 5th year of growth, knowing they'd no longer fit under the greenhouse, we harvested every part of the plants for extraction. I added the sources labdanum resin, as I wanted an extraction of every part of the plant; a whole plant extraction. Cistus is the plant that yields labdanum, but in our neck of the woods, although the leaves do become very resinous, they do not yield resin like they do in their natural habitat. This allowed me to capture all of the fragrant parts of the plant, creating a gorgeous, complex extraction. Very special, and very potent.
