Lilac Snow Whipped Body Butter

Lilac Snow Whipped Body Butter

4 oz in a glass jar with golden cosmetic spoon.

The Nymph of Lilacs, accordingly named Lilac of course, promised her friends of the Frosted Forest she'd visit them before years end. She boasted constantly of her plumes of fragrant lilac flowers, and her friends all begged her to bring bouquets to scent their homes, and bring them cheer to the snow covered Winter Forest. "Of course I will, you can count on me," she had written in her letter she'd handed off to the Frosted Forest Polar Post.

Bag packed, she set out to the Frosted Forest. Over the hills and far way. She danced her way, pranced her way, skipped, hopped, ran, jogged, but didn't stop. She had reached the edge of the Frosted Forest, the portal to the other side.

She unzipped the fabric of space for just a moment, fucked through, and into the Frosted Forest. As she made her way into the tree line, the tip of her hat hit a branch, knocking a pile of snow on top of her. She shook off the pure white snow, and continued on. A cold, blistering wind began to nip at her cheeks, causing them to be as rosy as can be. She pulled down her hat flaps over her cheeks, and buttoned the top buttons of her snowsuit. "I am not suited for the cold," she thought as she pushed on through the snow. Each step through the deep snow seemingly made her boots heavier.

"I know what will take my mind off this cold," she said aloud to herself as she reached into her backpack and pulled out a small fancy vial of clear purple liquid. She opened the top, pushed back her collar, and dabbed a bit on her neck. She took a deep breathe, "Mmmmm," she exclaimed as the sweet scent of Lilacs surrounded her.

Just then it dawned on her, "Oh No! The Lilacs!" She thought. She'd forgotten the bouquets of lilacs for her friends! As she pressed on through the snow, the thought began to grow into a constant stream in her mind, nagging her, "You forgot the lilac's. You're the lilac nymph and you are showing up empty handed, bringing your promise of Lilacs but no lilacs!?!?! ".

She took a step unknowingly into a snowdrift, and plunged up to her shoulders in snow. She pulled herself up, then fell back in, repeatedly, every which way, until she made it out of the snowdrift, most definitely some time later. She lost her hat, and by now her long purple lilac hair had unraveled from it's perfect four petalled flower shaped bun, sticking to her face and neck which was wet with melted snow. She felt lost, and couldn't find her starting point where she'd fell into the snow drift.

Her boots full of snow, and her toes cold as ice, she took a seat on a snow covered log, and began to cry tears of purple into the snow. All the while, still thinking how she had forgotten the lilac bouquets. Overwhelmed and crying, her tears fogged up her eyes, and all she could see was the purple of her tears, and the white of the snow that covered everything in the forest.

Then, a voice, a whisper in her left ear,

"Don't cry, don't be frightened, everything will be alright."

She turned to her left, the snow began to lift up from the snow drifts and ground, twirling dancing, ice and snowflakes, a sight to behold. A glow from within the swirling snow appeared, and then the Frosted Forest Nymph standing before her. She immediately scurried to her feet and bowed to the Frosted Forest Nymph, knowing immediately who was in her presence. As she stood up from her bow, Lilacs gaze met that of the Frosted Forest Nymph, her breathe momentarily paused, as she looked upon the glowing nymph in awe.

"Why do you cry sweet child?" The Frosted Forest Nymph said with concern in her eyes.

"Why please excuse me, but I've forgotten my gifts for my friends, my buns come undone, I've fallen into the snow in every direction, I've lost all sense of direction, and I've lost hope that I'll make it to my friends anything but frozen solid, " Lilac said with a whimper and a whine.

"Now don't you fret," said the Frosted Forest Nymph," I can help you young nymph. I smell the sweet perfume of Lilacs, you must be Lilac, the flower Nymph of why the Lilac's of course!?"

"Yes I am, and that is the gift I have forgotten. Sweet, fresh, fragrant bouquets of Lilacs for my friends." Lilac replied.

"Mmmhm ah I know just what to do," said the Frosted Forest Nymph as she began to gracefully swirl her arms through the air. The cold snow that had melted onto Lilac's skin and clothes began to lift from her person and fall as snowflakes around her.

Lilac immediately felt warm and cozy in her snowsuit.

"Do you have anymore of your lovely lilac perfume?" Asked the Frosted Forest Nymph.

"Why yes, yes I do," Lilac said as she took the vial from her pocket, then handed it to the Frosted Forest Nymph.

The Frosted Forest Nymph opened the vial and knocked a few drops of the perfume into the purple tear covered snow. She said a few words of magic, and just like that, Lilac bushes began to spring from the snow covered ground. They formed leaves from their branches, and flowers soon followed, as plush and fragrant as can be.

"Eeeeeek!"Lilac squealed as she ran towards the plumes of heavily flowered clusters. She buried her nose between the plush petals, drawing in a deep breath, and then a sigh of delight. She turned around to thank the Frosted Forest Nymph, but she was gone, and all that was left was a snow drift in the shape of an arrow, no doubt in the direction Lilac needed to head to join her friends.

She pulled her pocket knife from her knapsack and began cutting bouquets of Lilacs. As she tied the sweet little bundles with pieces of frozen vine, she realized these lilac's were the most divinely scented lilac flowers she'd ever smelled. She wondered if it was the snow, or the Frosted Forest Nymphs touch and magic, or perhaps it was because her tears of sorrow sprouted joyous flowers to bring more love and beauty to the Frosted Forest. She didn't know but she sure was delighted! She tucked the bundles of fragrant lilacs into her backpack, and headed in the direction the arrow was pointing, towards the Heartland of the Frosted Forest.......

Floral and fresh, cool lilac and lavender linens, ozonic, ethereal notes of hyacinth, antique orris root, violets, geranium, and rose trick the nose into a mirage, the illusion of your face buried in lilac flowers, and the undeniable scent of cool, crushed snow amongst the flowers. Flush with lilac florets, plush parma violets creeping with sweet victorian flowers, and vintage roots.

Handcrafted Extractions of; Hyacinth Enfleurage Extrait, Rose Enfleurage Extrait, Violet Leaf Absolute, Artisan Co-distillation of Rose Geranium and Lavender, and Fir Balsam and Virginia Cedarwood Co-distillation, Lavender Absolute, Frankincense Absolute, Orris Root Resinoid

The formula is created with my favorite fruit and nut oils, and my favorite butter, Shea Nilotica. It's is silky, smooth, and substantial moisturizing. The scent is diffusive and lingers. It's what I imagine the Nymphs perfuming their skin with as they ready for the ball. Delicate Violet and Iris, disguised as a Lilac. Although this formula contains no lilac, it's most certainly reminiscent of it, the melange creating a facade of the flower.

At Winters edge, on the cusp of Spring, we all need a little lilac. This scent is antique, and based off of a recipe I found in a old Victoria era perfumery book, in which I made my own version, with a sprinkle of the Jade Forest of course. The Irises I harvested from to obtain the Orris Root, are from our large patch of heirloom bulbs, given to me by my mother. They make quite a lovely extraction.
