Extractions of Clary Sage flowering tops, Lavender flowers, Carnation flowers, Elderflower, and Cistus/Labdanum resinous leaves grown in our organic garden are whisked into a nourishing, nightime healing sleeping mask. Apply at bedtime to awake with glowing, plumper, healthier skin. Plant Oils of Sugar Squalane, Avocado, Kukui, and Jojoba are paired with a sourced, creamy Blue Lotus Flower Wax and Clary Sage Flower Wax. The waxes have a very light scent, but it's their skin feel that is dazzling. Although they're waxes, they feel like plant butters that are light as a cloud, and offer a silky, occlusive barrier while you sleep, while the Clary Sage, Lavender, and Cistus work their magic, and Carnation kisses your skin!
 
Clary Sage has been shown in studies to reduce inflammation, and is very effective against bacteria that cause acne and skin infections. I've always thought of Clary Sage as a flower of the Moon. Feminine, frilly, soft, and velvety. The way the flowers glow in the moonlight, and it's cool, woodland floral scent. The plant has an aura about it. The moon beams catch the flowers petals, especially when their are many blooming in the patch at once, it's like little halos of light, crystal rainbows from petal to petal, flower to flower. I've used an extraction of the flowering tops for this formulation. Some where on full bloom, others seeded on top and blooming on the bottom. Even the seed pods smell amazing. The leaves that bracket the stem beneath the flowers were also included. The extraction is gorgeous not only in it's scent and healing benefits, but it has its typical characteristic of crystalization.
 
Lavender, it's recorded history dates back over 2500 years. A plant that has no doubt evolved willingly alongside us humans. Her sweet alluring scent, feminine energy, and capabilities of healing many different afflictions, imagined with her appearance, colors from white, to purple-grey, purple-blue, purple, purple-pink, and soft pink. The extraction is several varieties of Lavender, a powerful synergy of plant allies. I see her as a warrior of the Moon, storing moonlight by night, and calling to the humans to pick her stalks of flowers, and a few leaves, by day.
 
Cistus ladanifer and Cistus creticus I planted from seed and nurtured indoors before finally planting outdoors. Our climate not suitable for the plants, we built a glass house made of our old windows, which we place over them to protect them through Winter. They flourished in the Spring and Summer Season and brought us many tissue paper like flowers. In the Moonlight their green velvety leaves shine silver, and in Winter when all is covered in snow their light green leaves shown through the glass, reaching up to the moonbeams and sun rays.
 
This Summer, they grew larger than they ever had before, and we knew we could no longer contain them under their glass house. We harvested many leaves and branches from the shrubs, in the heat of the Summer, on a 100f degree day, when they were sticky and beading their clear resins and essential oils. I extracted the fragrant leaves and twigs, and created the beautiful absolute within this formulation. The mysterious plant many call Labdanum, it has a way with wrinkles, giving skin a plumper, firmer appearence, and over time, balances oils and dryness, and heals skin. Its floral, amber fragrance, is sweet and resinous, and pairs perfectly with the Lavender and Clary Sage.
 
Carnation, frilly flowers they are, look magnificent in the moonlight amongst the other white flowers in the moon garden. This is a special extraction of the flowers, created with organic food grade alcohol, which is then evaporated to reveal a waxy absolute. It not only contributes a floral green powdery scent, but it's skin conditioning and healing properties as well.
 
Finally, an extraction of elderflower blossoms, created from the flowers that grow plentiful at the edge of our forest. I love using elderflower in my face creams, because it's proven to be quite powerful at evening out my skin tone, getting rid of acne mark discolorations, and giving the texture of my skin an overall smoother appearance. The scent is one of my favorites, so clean and sweet. I associate the white plumes of tiny flowers with the moon, and no doubt the energy is feminine.
 
The nourishing plant extractions, oils, and butters are emulsified with ecocertified, cosmos approved, plant derived emulsifiers and a small water portion infused with Quanternized Honey for it's lovely humectant properties, and properly preserved with natural cosmetic preservative. I've also included a natural, silicone alternative, for beautiful slip and texture.
