The Blueberry Nymph Loves Basil~Whipped Cleansing Balm
2 ounces in a reusable glass jar. Shelf life 6 months.
"Hey Blue!" said the other Berry Nymphs as Blueberry skipped by them, on her way to the blueberry Grove, to spend the sunny day picking bowls of plump, wild blueberries from around the lake. She had her wooden bowl in hand, and in high spirits, she made it to the lake in no time. She got to working filling her bowl with blueberries, and after an hour or so in the hot sun, she decided to take a swim in the lake. She set her bowl on a big rock ashore, and plunged into the cool, clear water. She popped her head up, treading water, and looked out towards the center of the lake. She noticed Blue Spice Island looking especially lush and green, and decided to head out to check if any of the spice plant patches were blooming.
Blueberry emerged from the water, and immediately her nose was hit with the unmistakable scent of blueberry. Now being the Blueberry Nymph, she knew there were not any blueberry bushes on Blue Spice Island, "Or is there?" She thought. She followed her nose across the beach, and over the grassy field. A thick, healthy, vibrant green patch of basil was before her. The scent was now intense, definitely blueberry! "But what is it?!" She said aloud excitedly. She stepped into the basil patch, her barefeet crushing the basil leaves under her. The scent intensified, and she knelt down to the ground. "It's the basil!" She hollared with joy.
She started to pick the basil plants that were blooming with stalks of pretty purple-blue flowers. She made a bundle, wrapped it in grape leaves, and tied it all together with a piece of grapevine. She placed the bundle on top of her head, and secured it with another grapevine. She swam back to shore with her fragrant herbs above the water on her head, keeping them perfectly dry. She knew just what to do with the lovely plants, she'll have blueberry and basil tarts, and maybe muffins too! And she'll reserve some to create a beautiful cream cleanser for her face! Perfect for removing her blueberry blush and lip paint.
This year, along with the usual purple, cinnamon, and sweet basil, I grew Blue Spice Basil in the garden. Boy was I in for a treat! To my complete surprise, this basil smells like blueberry! Fruity, and unmistakably blueberry! When I first crushed the leaves between my fingers, and realized it smelled of blueberry, I hid what was in my hands, and asked my husband and daughter what it smelled like to them. Dustin said blueberries, and Iyla said blueberry Mama! I knew I wasn't imagining it!
I distilled the Blue Spice Basil for hydrosol, and extracted the flowers and leaves to obtain a beautiful pure extraction. I combined the hydrosol and extraction with my handcrafted Wild Blueberry Glycerite (it's what gives the formulation it's pretty purple-blue color!), and skin-loving Blueberry and Plum Seed Oils. The formulation is properly emulsified with a natural ecocertified emulsifier, and narurally preserved with an ecocertified preservative. Natural, gentle coconut derived soap is added for rinse-ability and cleansing. This Whipped Cleansing Balm will remove all traces of make-up, and rinses completely clean without stripping skin of it's natural oils, while moisturizing and hydrating skin. It leaves skin clean and soft.
There is no added fragrance to this formulation. It smells of plump delicious blueberries due to the inclusion of the botanical extractions within the formulation. Both Blueberry and Basil are highly beneficial when used within skincare. Blueberry is very repairative to skin, and helps increase skin cell production. It's also rich in antioxidants which promote healthy skin. Basil has been shown to gently and effectively encourage skin cell turnover, while also helping skin to retain hydration. Basil can help heal the skin barrier, and prevents transdermal water loss when used over a period of time. Basil is also antimicrobial, and can help to heal acne when used frequently. I've also added a sourced Copaiba Balsam Oil for it's amazing anti-inflammatory effects, with soothes redness and irritation. As always with all of my skincare products, this formulation is non-comedogenic, which means it will not clog pores.
Only a small amount of balm is needed to achieve glowing, clean skin. Apply a dime size amount for make up free skin, and a nickel size amount for make up removal. The Whipped Cleansing Balm should be applied to dry skin, close your eyes and massage balm into your skin with gentle circular motions, focusing on areas with the most make up, and allow the balm to melt into skin, and then wet hands, and lather into a gorgeous, thick, creamy foam. Continue to massage into skin, and once you are satisfied that you have cleared all of your make up (this balm will even remove waterproof make up), rinse skin with warm water, and pat dry to reveal super soft, clean skin. Rarely when I wear heavy make up, I personally like to use my Honey Cleansers for a double cleanse, but it's not necessary.
